Highfield Farm is located on 15-acres in the heart of an industrial community in the city of Calgary.
In partnership with the Compost Council of Canada, and the City of Calgary, we are transforming this vacant property into a vibrant and productive urban farm through soil revitalization, food production and community programming. The Highfield Farm urban agriculture project will produce locally-grown food, raise general awareness of urban agriculture, generate entrepreneurial opportunities, and strengthen our communities.
The farm develops strategies, techniques and practices to convert brownfield sites into healthy ecosystems.
We do this by establishing practical, measurable, standards and protocols around soil health and biology, water quality, carbon and nutrient cycling, ecosystem diversity, contamination, and remediation.
We engage Calgarians by providing educational opportunities, and practical volunteer work growing charitable food while restoring ecosystems.
Become a member to volunteer, join in on our programming, and be part of our growing community!
We aim to create an ecologically regenerative market garden serving Calgary with nutrient dense vegetables.
Much of our gardens will be grown specifically for the Plant, Grow, Share A Row program, which sees food donated to food banks across Canada.
Select products will be available for sale on-site at our farm stand.
